Well, I’m back from some time off (from this blog, at any rate), owing to other stuff going on. Sadly, I do not have oodles of interesting commentary about The Wasp Factory to share with you, because I didn’t get into it. It’s interesting in its own way, but not one that I find any reason to keep reading other than finding out the details of some incidents that have been alluded to.
The main character is a psychopath, basically. Terrible at human interaction; caught up in their own world and only considering others for what benefit it brings to himself. From the way it’s told, the whole family is a bit cracked, and not in a good, makes-them-more-interesting-than-the-“normals” way. It’s well written, has a definite sense of underlying not-taking-things-too-seriously, but I’m just not interested.
Hopefully the next one engages my attention better.
